Amare-A Multisensory Installation about Life, Death, and Love

A Multisensory Installation about Life, Death, and Love called "Amare"

    What is Amare?

Amare is an installation about life, death, and love. It offers a multisensory experience to the
audience through projection, speakers, and scent. The word Amare means ‘to love’ in Latin. In
the journey of life, we may encounter both joy and sorrow. Regardless of its length, life is
precious, and it is important to learn how to love and receive love from others.

Materials and Techniques applied in the Installation

Amare includes the use of molding and masting, flowers, grass, and soil from diorama-making, scented candles, and wires to provide a sensory experience to the audience.

    Relation with Destination

Destination is a collection of photos with music centered around death, funerals, and love. Feel free to learn more by reading Destination.

One of Destination’s objectives is to bring people hope when they face their own death
or the death of a loved one. However, only one-third of the photo slideshow focuses on hope
and love, making the Destination balance too heavily weighted toward death. To
further develop this project, I propose Amare, an installation that focuses on life and hope and
combines it with the photo slideshow to create a more complete experience.

    What is Destination?

Destination is a collection of photos with music centered around death, funerals, and love. The
photos were taken in various funeral homes, crematoriums, cemeteries, and shops that sell
funeral services and supplies. The aim is to capture objects and situations one may encounter
when a loved one dies. By showcasing these images, Destination encourages the audience to
reflect on how they should face death and cherish their lives.

    Storyline and Style of Photo

The storyline of Destination mirrors that of attending a funeral and visiting cemeteries. It is
divided into three sections. The first section includes photos of a funeral. The second section
deals with mourning the dead and focuses on the sadness and despair of losing someone
important in one’s life. The third section discusses love, hope, and how death remains a part of
our lives, but we can still move forward.

    Further Development

To further develop this project, I propose Amare, an installation that focuses on life and hope and
combines it with the photo slideshow to create a more complete experience. Feel free to learn more by reading Amare.
